Ever since I learned about the magic that is The 24 Hour Plays, I've wanted to do time-limited theatre. Today, I signed on to be a theatre-maker as part of "Tiny LGBTQ+ Shows" as part of the 96 Festival at Omnibus Theatre. Yay! I have to say, as a meticulous planner, I'm a little terrified, and a little stressed out already, but it's sure to be an incredible experience. I can't wait to meet some of the other incredible theatre-makers that will be a part of this event and see what comes out of the collaboration.
Here's the copy from the website:
"Fifty LGBTQ+ creative practitioners are spending two days writing, rehearsing and performing tons of tiny LGBTQ+ shows. This is spontaneous creativity by collaborators who may have only just met. You can come and spend the whole weekend with them, bearing witness to this incredible creative process, simply join them on Sunday afternoon for the freshest performances in town."
Performances are on Sunday, February 4.

For the past several years, my mom has been doing a podcast named "Beauty and the Burg". She's interviewed some pretty cool people like Lea DeLaria and Leslie Jordan, but its main focus has been profiling the local arts community of my hometown, St. Petersburg, Florida. She has been doing an "ex-Pete-triot" series, where she interviews people who grew up in St. Petersburg, but who've then moved away and followed pursuits elsewhere. It only took 136 episodes, but I finally got invited to be on the show! Haha. Check out this very special mother / son episode of my mom's podcast. It was super fun to do.
DATE & VENUE CHANGE!
Please note, due to scheduling conflicts, the reading of Stun in St. Petersburg, FL has moved to WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 20 7pm - 9pm at SubCentral At The Iberian Rooster. We're really excited about the possibilities of this space, and hope you'll join us. The reading will be followed by a drag show, so stick around and make an evening out of it!

For over a year, the DG Festival Guidelines Committee (Chair: Donna Hoke, Julius Galacki, David Guaspari, Stephen Kaplan, Deborah Murad, Rich Orloff, Eric Sanders, Ralph Sevush, Jordan K. Stovall, and Kathleen Warnock) met to discuss what the best practices should look. As a result, this document was published in the most recent edition of The Dramatist magazine with an introduction by Donna Hoke.
